Apparently I now peddle books to friends children through car windows. Yes. Genuinely sold a book - Grimwood by Nadia Shireen - to @helloflorrie daughter through the car window whilst we were isolating! You know I love an early chapter book - especially an illustrated one - but this is a new book peddling best for me!

Ted and Nancy live in the city and all is going well until Ted mistakes Princess Buttons tail for a hotdog and chomps it right off. Princess Buttons is no ordinary cat - she’s the toughest (tom - she’s not a tomcat, she’s s girl but I wonder how many people will get the reference?) in town! And has already taken charge of the bins behind Speedy Chicken. Ted and Nancy must flee.

So they head for Grimwood where they expect to find peace and safety but actually they discover thieving eagles, dramatic ducks and riotous rabbits as well as a Moose who is a struggling writer. And let’s not forget Binky Snuffhausen whose fate is both shocking, grim and hilarious - actually spat out my tea reading it.

Also there’s a woodlouse narrator and treebonking squirrels.

This book is BRILLIANT. Shall I say it louder for the people in the back? it’s BRILLIANT!!! It’s hilarious. It’s clever. It’s packed full of connections and humour. It’s got artwork kids will love. And it’s got a £1 world book day companion. Just BUY IT!

Happy Reading and Treebonking if you so wish!

  1. Now, Binky Snuffhausen has definitely made it onto my list of craziest characters’ names.
