Hope everyone is coping well with new restrictions, and using time to enjoy the little things like children's books! It has been a whole month since I posted anything on my blog! That's a new record I think! Oh dear! But I have been very busy tackling my leaning tower of Pisa style book review pile instead and quite honestly enjoying the new found freedom of having the bairns at school and nursery.

I reviewed in over on Instagram around the time that BookBairn started school as it's such a good one for little ones who are learning to make new friends, particularly in a school environment.

That's it! August has come round and BookBainr started school! I have a lot of starting school books reviewed over on Instagram and hopefully (now she's at school and the Wee Page Turner's at nursery) I'll have some time to collate them into a full blog post. My favourite post last month came from Wee Reads who reviewed a book that I immediately went out to buy - the latest Mini Rabbit from John Bond! We love Mini Rabbit so when BookBairn spotted it in the bookshop we were definitely bring it home with us and it's so much fun.

 Gosh, is it just me or has July gone by in a flash? BookBairn starts school in just three weeks and I can't believe it! The Wee Page Turner also starts nursery and all things being well he has been allocated 9-3 five days a week so I really don't know what I'm going to do with myself other than bask in the free time and read some books (but seriously I have a book draft to finish and a mountain of DIY and home improvement to organise that will keep me busy for a while!). And hopefully I'll have some more time for reviews and blogging which has really taken a serious hit in lockdown as I just don't have the energy even when I do have the time. But no more excuses because there's always time for Kids Love to Read!

My favourite post last month came from The Next Best Thing to Mummy who reviewed a book that we also enjoyed all about being true to yourself and loving the things you love! I've linked my Instagram post about it below too.

Kids can be so changeable, can’t they? One minute they love My Little Pony and the next they love Barbie. Or they flit from tractors to dinosaurs to trains. Or, not that I’m speaking from experience, they love My Little Pony and trains! And this story, a little girl tells us about all her favourite things, from her light up shoes, to her red pencil, to the view from our window. But the girl knows that her feet grow her pencil shortens and the scene from her window changes. That is one constant through all this, there is someone she’ll always laugh… And that is what (who) she likes the very, very most. Ultimately this story is an ode to the unwavering love a child has for their mother. A mother’s love never changes, she is constant when nothing else remains the same. Sorry I missed last month's Kids Love to Read link-up if you follow me on social media you will know that we recently lost both my grandparents to covid19 and I just wasn't up to blogging or doing very much that either wasn't necessary or to do with the bairns. Sorry I missed last month's Kids Love to Read link-up but we had planned on being away on holiday and I was going to schedule the post but then at the last minute we cancelled (our flight was one of the last flights to land in the US before the embargo came into place so technically we could have gone but decided it wasn't sensible). Wow!! First Kids Love to Read of 2020! Does anyone else feel like January is flying by super fast? I had all the best intentions of making sure that I got two blog posts up every week but that has already faltered with everyone being really poorly with a virus last week so I didn't manage to post at all. My favourite post last month came from Mumma Scribbles who shared a bundle of superb stories that her kids were loving at the time (I'm sure they still do!) and it featured one that we had borrowed from the library at the same time - The Smeds and the Smoos by Julia Donaldson and Axel Scheffler as well as one of my all time favourites - Mixed by Arree Chung.

Laura's favourite came from Rainbows are Too Beautiful who wrote about mindfulness with children, a topic you know that I love, and shared a book that we had been sent for review in the past but didn't really use that much because my kids are quite good at drifting off to sleep themselves so it was nice to read her perspective.

And Acorn Books is back from her maternity leave with a very adorable new baby to boast about and she enjoyed Raisie Bay's post about the Magical Mermaid Underwater Activity book and the Roman Adventure Activity book, which I recently featured too in an Instagram round of of amazing activity books.
